The rules of evidence
The Court is not bound by rules or practice as to evidence but may inform itself on any matter in such manner as it thinks fit: Magistrates Court (Civil Proceedings) Act 2004 (WA), s 29(4).
The rules of evidence under the Evidence Act 1906 (WA) and the common law do not apply.
Making use of evidence prior to trial
The purpose of a pre-trial conference is not to present your evidence.
However, in order to be effective at perusuading the other side to settle, it is almost always a good idea to summarise the evidence you will present to the Court at trial (if the case were to go to trial).
